Ed attended public school in San Luis Obispo from kindergarten through college. He obtained his B.A. degree from Cal Poly (California Polytechnic State University), and earned his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco where he was awarded a Certificate of Specialization in California Real Estate Law.
Ed is licensed to practice law in all of the state and federal courts in California and Alaska. He has served as an Officer and Director of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association and was the Chairman of the Lawyer Referral and Information Services Program.
Ed is very proud to raise his family in San Luis Obispo and enjoys volunteering his time to support the community with his wife, Molly.
Ed served as a law clerk in the state and federal trial courts of Alaska. During this time, Ed had the opportunity to work on opinions authored by Judge John W. Sedwick while he was sitting with the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Following his judicial clerkship, Ed joined a large law firm practicing maritime law, securities defense, insurance defense and general civil litigation.
Upon his return to San Luis Obispo, Ed was a partner at Carsel & Attala, LLP. Ed then opened his own firm focusing on the areas of estate planning, trust administration and probate, corporate and business transactions, real estate matters and related civil litigation.
Ed is a member of the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Alaska and San Luis Obispo County Bar Association. He is a past board member and board president for the Access Support Network, which provides services to people in need in San Luis Obispo County and Monterey County. He is also a member of the San Luis Obispo Police Department Roundtable.
